Braxted Track Update

On Sunday 4th March, on a pretty miserable morning, the Committee met at Braxted to make an assessment of work to be carried out in order to prepare for the coming season.

The first thing we noticed was that our grass sowing (carried out early in November with 2 tonnes of top-soil) had been successful and the whole area is ‘greening up’ nicely. Before mowing the area will need to be rolled to compact the grass and level the ground as much as possible. Working Party dates have been arranged to get the required work done in readiness for the season.

You will note that on the Braxted Programme the first race meeting, scheduled for Sunday April 1st, is a ‘Trial Day‘. This is not, by the way, a ‘wind-up’ just because it is April Fool’s Day! The object is to try out our new race timing programme and equipment. This ‘trial’ meeting will be for paid-up 2012 MERCC members only, so anyone who has not joined/renewed their membership for 2012 before the end of March will not be permitted to participate – no exceptions.

If therefore you wish to take part make sure you have joined the club/renewed your membership before the end of March. Please don’t turn up if you are not a paid-up MERCC member unless you only wish to spectate. There will be no charge for racing and no trophies; the reward will be that participants will have helped the Club out before we start the season in earnest!
