Grey skies and a chilly north-easterly wind greeted us, and some water droplets in the air (definitely not rain!) appeared to be a little threatening early on. However, although it didn’t warm up much during the day and we barely saw the sun it stayed dry. Numbers were down somewhat as some of our drivers were racing at the Regional, but the Meeting was an enjoyable one.
The track design was clockwise-running after the track-laying team had finished, utilising all Astroturf features. It was decided to run all 1/10th Electrics together, though they would be racing for positions in their own class, and to have 4 qualifying Rounds, Finals, and Marshall-Less Finals. Stuart Collard proved that, with a good car set-up and expert driving, a 2wd buggy could compete well with the 4wd’s on our track.
