There was rain the previous evening and early on Sunday morning some dark clouds looked a bit ominous! We needn’t have worried as it stayed dry all day with plenty of sunshine and a strong cooling breeze (didn’t even need the fan on at Race Control!). The grass was barely damp when we arrived and, as always, willing volunteers soon had a track laid out, clockwise incorporating all features including the concrete jump from the ‘Bomb-Hole’. The track design proved to be fast and, contrary to what was expected, many drivers improved their times as the day went on.
The heats comprised 1/10th 2wd/4wd Electric Buggies and SCT’s and 1/8th Nitro/Electric. The SCT’s ran with the 4wd’s and the 1/8th Electrics with the Nitros. Four Rounds of heats were held, plus ‘normal’ Finals and Marshal-Less Finals. There was some very close racing all day in the heats and Finals, and the atmosphere very friendly (that’s one reason why people like racing at Braxted!).
